Microsoft Corporation  5 Wayside Road, Burlington, MA (edit map)

The Boston Area Windows Server User Group (www.WindowsBoston.com) is sponsoring a training class “DevOps, Containers, Windows Server 2016 and Azure” for their members and to the local technology community.

Join Dan Stolts and the experts of Windows Boston for an all day, hands-on training Session. Come to this event to learn about Windows Server 2016, what 2016 will mean for our datacenters and what 2016 and Azure have in common. Have you installed Windows Server 2016 yet? Bring a laptop or server and get it installed and configured. Don’t have a machine but want to learn how to stand up servers in the cloud, no problem. Bring an Internet (HTML5) ready device (laptop, etc), setup an Azure Free trial (http://aka.ms/IaaS [setup a new free Microsoft Account if you have already used your trial]) Please setup your Microsoft Account and Azure Trial in advance.

This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about DevOps practices, Containers and many other new capabilities in Windows Server 2016 as well as how to leverage these capabilities on Azure. For those that like PowerShell, we have some great stuff for you too.

The event will be held at Microsoft’s NEW facility at 5 Wayside Road, Burlington, MA on Friday November 18th. There will be a nominal fee of $50.00* to help cover costs. All proceeds go to the Boston Area Windows Server User Group to help them bring more to the local technology community. Registration information at the bottom of this notice.

In the morning, learn what’s new in Windows Server 2016 and how to use Azure Resource Manager, templates and even github to build out entire systems on Azure in a snap. Then walk through our labs as you get hands on with deploying to Azure or deploying Windows Server 2016 to your own hardware. You will not want to miss this great opportunity to catch up with the latest and greatest capabilities coming to our datacenters.

You can download windows server 2016 from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-technical-preview. If you would rather use an image from MSDN or other, no problem, just make sure you bring it and everything your computer will need to boot the install. You can also do a dual boot if you like. If installing Windows Server on hardware, please backup your machine in advance and confirm it is a good and complete backup before coming.
