Build Your Own Private Cloud – All Day TechNet Event Series Teaching You How To Build Your Own Private Cloud

image
Are you up to speed on the cloud?  Have you already built a cloud lab?  Do you know what tools make up the Private Cloud?  If you answered no to any of these questions, we have an event for YOU!  We do not have the registration links ready yet but we are real close.  I wanted to give everyone a heads up so you can mark your calendar for this very important TechNet event series coming in October. If you think the cloud is not for you… check this out!
imageFor a growing number of businesses, the journey to cloud computing starts with a private cloud implementation. A private cloud dramatically changes the way your business produces and consumes IT services by creating a layer of abstraction over your pooled IT resources. This allows your datacenter to offer true infrastructure service capability as well as optimally managed application services.
Microsoft solutions for private cloud are built on Windows Server Hyper-V and System Center.

The Microsoft private cloud solution is a key part of our approach to cloud computing, enabling you to build out a dedicated cloud environment to transform the way your team delivers IT services to the business.

Here is an advance look at the proposed agenda:

  • Get Ready for the Cloud with Hyper-V(pre-event session)  60 mins
  • KEYNOTE: The IT Pro’s Heaven: The Private Cloud  75 mins
  • SCVMM 2012: From Virtualization Management to Private Cloud 75 mins

Lunch Break

  • Getting Started Building Your Private Cloud 75 mins
  • You’ve Got a Cloud: Familiar Tools to Manage It! 60 mins
  • Bonus Session and Wrap-Up 30 mins

Hey, what’s this pre-event session?  Well, glad you asked.   We have talked much about Hyper-V in our past events.  We decided we would start a bit early and call that first session a pre-event session.  If you already know everything there is to know about Hyper-V you can safely miss this first session.  If you are not using Hyper-V on a daily basis or you are not familiar with some of the newer capabilities of Hyper-V, you will want to attend.  This will be of particular interest for those that are currently running VMWare as we will be comparing and contrasting Hyper-V and VMWare’s offerings.  My personal opinion… You should come.  BTW,  I am the speaker in many of the cities for this session.   I promise to give you some new information Smile

We start off with Hyper-V since that is the foundation for the cloud.  We go through the essential steps and operations to set up a Hyper-V environment for running a virtualization solution. You will need to understand the fundamentals of Hyper-V to fully benefit from most of the sessions. We are going to make it as easy and convenient as possible for you to master Hyper-V.  Then we dive into the many other solutions you will need to understand to setup and deploy a sample cloud in your own company.  We will also be extending and detailing all the knowledge we do not have time to cover in our blogs. Once you finish this tech packed day with us, you will have all the knowledge you need (with resource links) to setup your own private cloud!  We do ask one thing… we need you to come prepared.  Come ready to learn a bunch of stuff.  If you can go ahead and download the bits of the materials before the show and start building out your virtualized environment, you will get a whole lot more from the event.  Bring your machine if you like.  If you have any problems or questions, bring those too.  Get all the answers you need to get started in the cloud.

imageWhat you will get from this full day event is sufficient technical depth for you to start building up your skill portfolio of cloud computing, particularly on private cloud. You will have all the information needed to learn, build, and evaluate a private cloud yourselves. As needed, you should consider acquiring hardware with hardware virtualization and with 8 or more GB RAM to build a test lab that is affordable and with enough resources to do some adequate testing.

If not already, do access and download the following free trainings and trials and start getting yourselves better with the following training and software which will facilitate your learning on private cloud:

Deploying and Managing Windows Azure Applications
Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1
Hyper-V Server 2008 R2 SP1
System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2008 R2 SP1
System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012 Beta
System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2
System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R3
System Center Configuration Manager 2012 Beta 2
Microsoft Virtual Academy
