Need a Server? Build it in the cloud for free

How to build a FREE Private Cloud using Microsoft Technologies

Chris Avis is a friend and colleague.  He created a pretty detailed blog post on how to create a private cloud.  I was planning on writing a similar post but found this one and decided to link to his. I hope you find his post helpful.  He goes through …

  • Architecture:
  • Hardware Requirements:
  • Software Requirements:
  • Suggested Pre-Reading/Learning:
  • Install the Hyper-V Host
  • Install Necessary Windows Server Roles and Features
  • Install Web Server (IIS) Role
  • Install SQL Server 2008 R2
  • Install System Center Virtual Machine Manager R2 + SP1
  • VMM Server Component
  • Install the VMM Administrator Console
  • Install the SCVMM Self-Service Portal 2.0 with SP1
  • You now have the hardware and software in place to demo a private cloud!

In the coming months, I will do a video series on how to do all of this using SCVMM 2012 Beta

You can download the software using the following links Smile

Check Out Microsoft Virtual Academy too; they have tons of good information
